Barretstown

THE ARVA SOAPBOX RACE IN AID OF BARRETSTOWN

Barretstown is a wonderful charity that provides a specially-designed camp with Therapeutic Recreation programmes for children with serious illnesses and their families.

Barretstown’s mission is to rebuild the lives of children affected by serious illness and their families. They believe that every child with serious illness should enjoy their childhood.

Barretstown was founded by Hollywood actor Paul Newman in 1994 and modelled on his renowned Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Connecticut, USA. Barretstown serves children affected by serious illnesses – primarily cancer and serious blood diseases – from Ireland, Britain and throughout Europe, and their families.

All for free!

All of the children and families come to Barretstown free of charge. Everything, including accommodation, food, medical assistance and round-trip airfares are provided at no cost to the family. Barretstown is supported by donations and the fundraising efforts of corporate supporters, individuals and community groups.

Barretstown needs your Help!

Each year it costs almost €5 million to run the programmes at Barretstown. This is why events like the Arva Soapbox Race are so important, it brings so much joy to these seriously ill children.

We have recorded the Event to try and raise as much funds as possible for this great charity. If the money raised brings a smile to at least one child and their parent its been well worth it
